Why does this exist?

I found myself answering many of the same questions on reddit over and over again for different people, and started thinking that I should probably collect my comments into a text document, so I could just cut-and-paste in my answers. One text document turned into… this… eventually. Now I can just post links to appropriate pages.

Is this free?

Absolutely! Both the website and the basic functionalities of the mobile app are completely free to use. There are amazingly powerful advanced tools you can activate in the app with a small subscription fee.

Is Egosoft involved in this?

No, this project is entirely independent of Egosoft. I have never been contacted by anyone from Egosoft, and they did not provide any information or assistance for this site or the mobile app.

Did anyone else provide assistance?

All content here is my own work, though I learned a great deal by reading the /r/x4foundations subreddit. My own comments and answers there became the core of this project.

How do you make money to pay for this site?

I don’t. The website hosting, maintenance, and the time invested are all out-of-pocket expenses I pay myself. I don’t charge anything for the website, and I’ve chosen not to add any annoying advertising to the site. 100% pure help, 100% free.

No, but seriously. You collect data or tracking or something, right?

No. I can honestly say, as of this writing, that the web site has been up for months and I’ve never even so much as looked at the traffic logs on the server. I only know people are here because google keeps sending me emails about my “search performance” click rate. (Google seems to think I should care a great deal more about this than I do.)
